KEY POINTS

Importance of Climate change education

·         According to a recent World Bank Study, nearly half of the population in India lives in places likely to become moderate or severe climate hot spots by 2050.

·         Education is an essential element of the global response to climate change.

·         It helps young people understand and address the impact of global warming, encourages changes in their attitudes and behaviour and helps them adapt to climate change-related trends.

·         It helps people to understand the impact of global warming and increase "climate literacy" among young people.

·         Steps taken to integrate environment education into the formal education system –

1.       National Policy on Education, 1986

2.      National Curriculum Framework, 2005

3.      Compulsory course on environment studies by UGC

4.      Green Skill Development Programme

5.      Science Express – Climate Action Special

Gaps in climate education

·         However, structured courses in formal education are missing so far, except in some colleges.

·         It is still a subject of research in academic institutions.

·         Role of energy technologies to address greenhouse gas mitigation and integration of climate change related studies, with main science and engineering subjects, are some of the areas which are yet unexplored.

·         As it was perceived in an UNESCO study, India needs policy coherence on sustainable development, climate change and environment education.

Climate change is the reality that we can't ignore or take back our position as we are human living on this mother earth and we are responsible for this menace.

Climate change is not a recent phenomena as it takes almost more than 30 years to describe climate position of certain area and climate change affets a lot not only those people who alters climate postion but also others .our environment ,our surrounding is great testimony of climate change, there are certain things which make changes in our climate such as.

1 Use of petroleum products .

2 Coal burning in factories or in power plants.

3 Use of chemical dyes,paints .

4 Tanneries situated in the bank of rivers and their residue.

5 Use of plastic products at much large scale.

These are just few examples but our disruptive activites are very large in numbers .Due to all these activities our world has been changed in GAS CHAMBER where life of human being is geeting shorter and world is alleging each other for this situation ,one part of world says developing countries are responsible for this and others are saying that developed nations are responsible for this calamity but the reality is that instead of making soultion for climate problems countries like United States has withdrawn herself from  PARIS CLIMATE DEAL ,which was came in to existence to fight with climate challanges.

The position of India in climate related problems is very severe as NEW DELHI has already been declared world's most polluted capital and thisvis the reality that Delhi is not able to provide pure air to breath as a result lakhs of people residing Delhi or nearby have to face atshma problems as well as premature deaths.

Bengluru which is known as Indian Silicon valley is also facing problems or polluted water as her rivers are overloaded with sulphar and it is very dangerous to drink.

These situation are very simar to other cities as Varanashi,Kanpur Patna and so on.

To curb this situation India has joined Paris Climate Deal as well as India is looking for other alternatives of coal or petroleum products as a result India with the help of France established INTERNATIONAL SOLAR ALLIANCE as well Indian Government has started NAMAMI GANGA MISSION & SWACCHA BHARAT MISSION which is generating postive result at ground and our recent land area under forest is 24.4 % but these are not enough as climate change is directly proportional to developent in today's world so we need a comprehensive plan to tackle future problems in world level and environmental education among all section of socities should must be spread through nukkad sabhas,Movies, folk songs and environmental studies should be made compulsary at every level of education ,these are the certain measures which can be adopted cause without public participation we can't achieve sustainable life for all.
