VC 11184

  • India’s first missile tracking ship VC 11184 has been built by Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL).
  • It has the capacity to carry 300-strong crew with hi-tech gadgets and communication equipment, powered by two diesel engines, and a large deck capable of helicopter landing.
  • It will be named after its official induction into the Indian Navy.
  • This will be the first of its kind ocean surveillance ship being built as part to strengthen the country’s strategic weapons programme.

YudhAbhyas

  • YudhAbhyas is a military training exercise which is part of the Indo-US defence cooperation.
  • The joint exercise will simulate both nations to work together in counter insurgency and counter terrorism environment in mountainous terrain under United Nation charter.     
  • The exercise will help further build interoperability between the forces of both the nations.

Exercise KAZIND-2018

  • It is a joint military exercise between Indian and Kazakhstan Armies, commenced in Otar Military Area, Kazakhstan.
  • This is the third edition of joint military training exercise between Indian Army and Kazakhstan Army.
  • The joint training aims to build & promote army to army relations and exchange skills & experiences between Indian Army and the Kazakhstan Army.

APSARA - U

  • Apsara is the first research reactor in Asia became operational in Trombay campus of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in 1956 and the reactor was shut down in 2009.
  • Recently a swimming pool type research reactor “Apsara-upgraded”, of higher capacity was setup at Trombay.
  • The reactor, made indigenously, uses plate type dispersion fuel elements made of Low Enriched Uranium (LEU). 
  • This reactor will increase indigenous production or radio-isotopes for medical application by about fifty percent and would also be extensively used for research in nuclear physics, material science and radiation shielding.

Railsahyog

  • Indian Railways has launched a web portal www.railsahyog.in, Itwill provide a platform for the Corporates and PSUs to contribute to creation of amenities at/near Railway Stations through Corporate Social Responsibility funds.
  • The companies desirous of contributing can show willingness on the portal by registering their requests.
  • This portal will provide an opportunity for Industry/ Companies/ Associations to collaborate with Railways.
  • The portal has been envisaged as a platform for all including individuals as also private & public organisation to contribute towards CSR activities in association with Indian Railways.
