Recently Sarbananda Sonowal, minister of Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW) launched Port Health Organisation (PHO) under Sagar Setu

• Sagar Setu is a national maritime single window platform that provides end-to-end logistics solutions to help exporters, importers, and service providers.
• It is an "open platform" that allows coexistence of multiple service providers to provide EXIM related services independently or by using connectivity options.
• It will facilitate real-time information of activities that are generally not in reach of the importer, exporter and customs broker.
• It also enables digital transactions for payments required for the clearance process of import and export like CFS charges, shipping line charges, transportation charges, etc.
• It also includes a single-window certification device to approve transactions, as well as the integration of an online payment service.
• All services and documents generated will be in line with global best practices and standards.
• Port Health Organisation (PHO) was recently launched under Sagar Setu.

Port Health Organisation (PHO)

• PHO enables Sagar Setu to be faster & simpler ecosystem to promote Ease of Doing Business.
• PHO will conduct disease surveillance, health inspection, and quarantine measures to safeguard citizens and port workers.
• This module has been envisaged as a part of ‘Ease of Doing business’ by covering features like request for PHO clearance certificates, approval by PHO, etc.

Rajmargyatra

Recently National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) launched Rajmargyatra, a Unified Mobile Application for National Highway Users

• Rajmargyatra is a citizen-centric unified mobile application for National Highway Users.
• It aims to create a seamless, user-friendly experience for highway users, fostering a safer and more enjoyable journey on Indian National Highways.
• The app is available on both Google Play Store and iOS App Store.
• The app is launched by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
• The key features of the app includes:
  1. Comprehensive Highway Information
  2. Hassle-Free Complaint Redressal
  3. Seamless FASTag Services
  4. Over-speeding notifications and voice-assistance

Bills in Parliament

• A Bill is a proposal for legislation and it becomes an act or law when duly enacted.
• The bills introduced in the Parliament can also be classified into 4 Categories which are:
  • Ordinary bills, which are concerned with any matter other than financial subjects.
  • Money bills, which are concerned with the financial matters like taxation, public expenditure, etc.
  • Financial bills, which are also concerned with financial matters (but are different from money bills).
  • Constitution amendment bills, which are concerned with the amendment of the provisions of the Constitution.

Money Bill

• Article 110 of the Constitution deals with the definition of money bills.
• A Money Bill is also a specific type of Finance Bill that must deal only with matters specified in Article 110 (1) (a) to (g).
• Money Bill can be rejected but cannot be returned by the president.
• Money Bills can originate only in the Lok Sabha.

Finance Bill

• Any Bill that relates to revenue or expenditure is a Financial Bill.
• Article 117 of the Constitution deals with the special provisions relating to Financial Bills.
• Examples of this first category of Financial Bills are Money Bills and other Financial Bills originating solely in the Lok Sabha.

Gyps himalayensis

Recently Researchers have recorded the first instance of captive breeding of the Himalayan vulture (Gyps himalayensis) in India at the Assam State Zoo, Guwahati

• The Himalayan vulture (Gyps himalayensis) are huge, bulky vultures with stout bills, loosely feathered ruff, long wings, and a short tail.
• The Himalayan vulture is a common winter migrant to the Indian plains and a resident of the high Himalayas.
• Himalayan vultures are indigenous to the uplands of central Asia, ranging from Kazakhstan and Afghanistan in the west to western China and Mongolia in the east.
• This species predominately inhabits the mountainous terrain of the Tibetan plateau with migration usually only occurring attitudinally.
• Breeding typically occurs at elevations between 600 and 4,500 m.
• These birds generally mate at the nest site, but never on the ground.

Study in India (SII) Portal

Recently Study in India (SII) Portal was jointly launched by Union Minsters, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and Shri S. Jaishankar

• The Study in India programme aims to increase the number of international students in India.
• SII Portal is a one-stop platform that will simplify international students’ academic journey in India.
• It is a dedicated website that will provide comprehensive information about the Indian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
• The website will illustrate academic programs such as:
  • Undergraduate (UG),
  • Postgraduate (PG),
  • Doctoral level programs and
  • Indian Knowledge System like Yoga, Ayurveda, classical arts etc.
• The portal will provide an integrated one-stop solution for student registration and visa application process.
• The Study in India programme involves partnership with educational institutes fulfilling one of the following criteria:
  • National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking lesser than or equal to 100.
  • National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation score greater than or equal to 3.01.
  • Institutes of National Importance (INI).
