Answers & Explanations

1. (d)

          National Air Monitoring program is done by both the Central and State pollution control boards. The National Ambient Air Quality index monitors eight pollutants namely CO, PM 2.5, PM 10, NH3, Pb, O3, NO2, SO2. There are six AQI categories, namely Good, Satisfactory, Moderately polluted, Poor, Very Poor, and Severe.

2. (a)

DPSP Directive Principles of State Policy are enumerated in Part IV of the constitution from Article 36 to 51. They are non-justiciable in nature i.e, they are not legally enforceable by the courts for their violation.

3. (a)

          Omkareshwar is situated on the Mandhata hills in Madhya Pradesh.The Mahadeo Hills are a range of hills in Madhya Pradesh state of central India. Pushkar lies in Ajmer, Rajasthan.

4. (b)

          Eight core industries are crude oil, coal, refinery products, Natural gas, Fertilizer, Steel, Cement and Electricity. As per weightage Electricity has 10.32% weightage; steel 4.9%; coal 4.38%; fertilizers 1.25%.

5. Answer: (c)

          IAEA is an international organization that seeks to promote the peaceful use of nuclear energy, and to inhibit its use for any military purpose, including nuclear weapons. The IAEA was established as an autonomous organisation on 29 July 1957.

          Though established independently of the United Nations through its own international treaty, the IAEA Statute, the IAEA reports to both the United Nations General Assembly and Security Council.

          Chilla-Motichur corridor is a narrow patch of land that connects the western and eastern part of Rajaji Tiger Reserve in Uttarakhand. Rajaji National Park is an Indian national park and tiger reserve that encompasses the Shivaliks, near the foothills of the Himalayas.

           JPSS is the latest generation of U.S. polar-orbiting, non-geosynchronous, environmental satellites. JPSS will aid in fulfilling the mission of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), an agency of the Department of Commerce. The Satellite system is launched from California.

          Qatar is a peninsular country in the Persian gulf. It shares its land border only with Saudi Arabia. An arm of the Persian Gulf separates Qatar from the nearby island country of Bahrain. Sunni muslims are more than the Shia muslims in Qatar.

9. Answer: (b)

          Kathak is one of the ten major forms of Indian classical dance. The origin of Kathak is traditionally attributed to the travelling bards of ancient northern India known as Kathakars or storytellers. The Kathakars communicate stories through rhythmic foot movements, hand gestures, facial expressions and eye work.

10. (b)

          Lingayatism is a distinct Shaivite religious tradition in India. The adherents of this faith are known as Lingayats. Lingayatism emphasizes qualified monism and bhakti.

Nice initiative. Keep up the good work. Very well applied questions based on daily current affairs. If one read The Hindu religiously, he can answer all the questions.

A  Nice step for students revision before Prelims. But it would be better If you provide those ten questions daily in one subject and another subject next day
