KEY POINTS
· The next climate conference, COP27, has just begun, in the Egyptian city of Sharm el Sheikh.
· To put things in a perspective, even 2.4°C is a lot. Today, the planet is hotter by 1.1°C and we are experiencing its deleterious effects.
· This report says that when global greenhouse gas emissions ought to come down by 45 per cent by 2030 compared with 2010 levels, the emissions have actually gone up by 10.6 per cent.
